Andrew Thomas, founder and managing director at BetterYou, said: ‘Our findings further confirm what we have long suspected, that our nation is far more deficient in vitamin D than we would care to admit. ‘Almost ninety per cent of people interviewed provided either classic symptoms of advanced vitamin D deficiency or listed multiple lifestyle conditions which would predispose them to be deficient.
We only receive 20% of vitamin D is received through our diets, the remainder must be obtained from exposure to UV light. Professor Michael Horlick a leading authority on vitamin D, writing for multiple professional journals and the Encyclopedia of Human Nutrition recommends getting out into the sunshine a few times per week for overall health.
