Your Questions answered About Automated Spray Tans in UK

New to spray tanning or curious about using our automated tanning booths? We’ve answered your most frequently asked questions about spray tanning to help you feel confident and get the best results from your session.
What is a spray tan?
Spray tanning is a sunless tanning method that uses a fine mist of tanning solution containing DHA (dihydroxyacetone). DHA reacts with the outer layer of your skin, darkening it to produce a golden tan without any exposure to UV light.
What is an automated spray tanning booth?
An automated spray tanning booth (also known as a sunless booth) is a spacious, fully enclosed system that sprays you from head to toe with tanning solution. Unlike traditional hand-sprayed tans, this offers a fully private, contactless tanning experience. You can choose your preferred shade and enhance your results with optional add-ons.
How do I prepare for my spray tan?
Preparation is key to achieving an even, flawless tan. We recommend the following:
- Exfoliating and moisturising your skin 24 hours before your session
- Avoiding oil-based products which can block the tanning solution

What should I wear to my spray tanning appointment?
Wear loose, dark clothing and slip-on shoes to avoid smudging your developing tan. We also recommend removing any jewellery before your session.
Is there anyone in the room with me for my spray tan?
No, our automated spray tanning booths are in a private, lockable room, giving you complete privacy at your appointment. Simply head into the private room, undress, hop into the booth and follow the instructions for a flawless all-over tan.
How long will my spray tan last?
On average, a well-looked-after spray tan can last around 7 days! However please be mindful that this will vary from person to person and can be impacted by things such as skin health, skin preparation and aftercare.
Check out our guide on how to make your spray tan last longer.
How long does it take to get a spray tan in an automated booth?
Once in the booth an automated spray tan takes less than 15 minutes to complete so it can fit into your busy day seamlessly!
How long after my spray tan do I need to wait to shower?
Make sure to allow 6-8 hours following your spray tanning session. This gives the DHA time to fully develop and achieve your ideal colour.
How long after my spray tan should I wait before exercising?
Avoid working out or sweating for 6 to 8 hours after your session, as moisture can cause streaking or affect development.
Will I tan through a spray tan while on holiday?
Yes you will. While a spray tan will give you a sun-kissed appearance, they do not offer any protection against UV rays. Make sure to use an SPF if spending time outdoors.
How do I avoid my spray tan going patchy?
Just like with all fake tans, for a flawless, even, all-over spray tan preparation is key! Exfoliating and moisturising your skin 24 hours before your spray tan helps to create an even canvas for the spray tan formula to adhere to.

Can I get a spray tan while pregnant?
Do not use spray tanning equipment if you are in your first trimester of pregnancy. If you are pregnant and not in your first trimester, please take care when using our booths as the floor may be slippery.
Will Chlorine on holiday affect my spray tan?
Yes, chlorinated water can cause your tan to fade more quickly. Limit your time in the pool, and rinse off soon after swimming.
