We strictly adhere to the Sunbed Act (2010) and under 18’s are NOT permitted to purchase UV packages or minutes online and will NOT be permitted to use UV services in-store*. If you are lucky enough to look under 21, we will ask you for proof of age in store before we will allow you to use UV tanning equipment. Please don’t be offended if you are asked, this is for your safety. This would need to be photo ID in the form of a passport, driving license or PASS card and include a date of birth.
At the Tanning Shop we take responsible tanning seriously. We provide a FREE tanning consultation service to all clients in store which reviews a client’s skin type and recommends responsible tanning options.
You must leave a minimum of 24 hours between tanning session. You will be refused use of our UV tanning if there is less than 24 hours between sessions. The European Standard advises you do not exceed 60 sessions per year.
You must use eye protection on every visit. We provide free disposable eye wear in every tanning room. Please use these to protect your eyes every time you tan.
If you are undergoing medical treatment or have photosensitive skin, you must consult a medical professional before using our equipment.
If you are pregnant, we will not permit the use of our UV tanning equipment. We will not allow anyone within their first trimester to use our Spray Tanning booths under any circumstance, if you wish to use the booths in your second or third trimester, we will require you to sign a disclaimer form in store.
If you have, or plan to have Botox or Dermal Fillers, we strongly advise speaking to a medical professional or your practitioner prior to using any UV tanning equipment.
You must not use our tanning equipment if you have already been sunbathing in natural sunlight or had another sunbed that day (or plan to).
If you have an excessive number of moles (over 50) or have anyone in your immediate family who has had skin cancer you should seek medical advice before using UV Tanning equipment.
By using our equipment, you acknowledge your understanding that using tanning services may result in skin ageing and potentially increase the risk associated with certain skin cancers.
Alcohol consumption or use or illegal substances is not permitted before or during your session, if for any reason a member of our team feels you may be under the influence you may be turned away from your appointment.
The below terms and conditions in the section, are in relation to the purchase, attempted purchase and handling of minutes, packages and sessions purchased through https://thetanningshop.co.uk/
or in store at The Tanning Shop. Terms used include ‘customer’ ‘customers’ (you, the user), ‘service provider’ (The Tanning Shop) and ‘services’ (packages, minutes and sessions).
The customer (you, the user) will not attempt to purchase or utilise UV services if they are under the age of 18. Customers under the age of 18 are not permitted to purchase, attempt to purchase or attempt to utilise services relating to UV, the customer will also not be permitted to use any of the UV services within our salons. The customer (you, the user) must be over 18 to use a sunbed.
Persons under 18 years will not be allowed to use sunbeds at The Tanning Shop. We enforce a Challenge 21 policy in our stores. If the customer (you, the user) is lucky enough to look under 21 they will be asked to prove they are over 18 before they can tan at The Tanning Shop. Accepted forms of ID must include a date of birth and are;
- Driving licence
- “PASS” (Proof of Age Standards Scheme) card.
Packages can be purchased in-store or online, packages are allocated on your account to the store you purchase them for. All packages have a 12-month expiry date from the date of purchase. Packages cannot be shared between customers.
Package Minutes can be used in any of our company-owned stores on equipment of equal or lower value. Packages purchased in Franchise Stores can only be used in that store.
Customers will have 14 days cooling off period from the day of purchase to request a refund. If no minutes have been used then the refund will be in full, if some minutes have been used then refund will be for the remaining minutes. Please note, if all minutes have been used then no refund will be available within the cooling off period.
Customers will be entitled to a full refund if the below criteria and process has been followed:
- Customer informs the business in writing that they wish to proceed with a refund via firstname.lastname@example.org or Unit 6, Morton Park, Darlington DL1 4PG.
- The refund request is within 14 days of purchasing the service.
- Customer has not used the services within the cooling off period
Please note that if the incorrect package is purchased customers will have the option to exchange the minutes to a suitable package.
EXPIRATION OF MINUTES, SESSIONS & MEMBERSHIPS
Please note that packages and minutes are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. Memberships are valid for 31 days from the date of purchase.
We may be able to pause packages in exceptional circumstances which mean you are not able to use the entire package in the 12-month period.
We may also be able to pause memberships in exceptional circumstances. However, these requests must be sent in writing email@example.com. Evidence of these circumstances may be requests and this provision is at the discretion of The Tanning Shop.
This must be done via customer services at firstname.lastname@example.org and is assessed on a case-by-case basis. You may be asked to provide supporting evidence such as a doctor’s note for us to do this. We reserve the right to refuse extension of packages or memberships. Memberships can be extended twice as a maximum.
The following list shows which franchise stores you can use your package in. Please note, your package must be the same price or higher to be able to tan in these stores.
- Finchley Road
- Praed Street
- Kings Cross
Similarly, packages purchased in the above franchise stores can also be used in company owned stores if your package is of the same price or higher.
Package sizes vary per store. Stores will have either;
- a 30-minute new customer package OR a 40-minute new customer package
- a 60-minute UV package OR a 75-minute UV package
- a 100-minute UV package OR a 120-minute UV package
Memberships (Unlimited Monthly Package) are only available to purchase in store and are valid for 31 days from the date of purchase. When using a membership, please be aware that customers must follow our responsible tanning guidelines and leave at least 24 hours between sessions. Memberships are excluded from all forms of discount.
TRANSFER OF MINUTES
Requests to transfer minutes to an alternative store must be made in writing via email to customer services at email@example.com. Loss of minutes may occur when you transfer to more expensive shops, you will be advised at the time of transfer and must give consent for us to do this.
Refunds are only available for medical reasons upon receipt of a valid medical certificate. All refund requests must be processed through our customer service team at firstname.lastname@example.org, proof of purchase may be required to process a refund.
Please note that the customer lotion storage facility is provided in our stores, this is a gesture of goodwill and we regret that we cannot be held responsible for any losses whatsoever.
We respectfully request that clients do not use Tingle or Oil-based lotions when using our UV Sunbeds. These lotions can affect the acrylics on the beds. The Tanning Shop reserve the right to ban lotions from use in their stores that are not fit for use on UV tanning beds.
If you have an allergy or sensitivity, we advise you check lotion ingredients carefully before use.
DAMAGE/LOSS OF CLIENT PROPERTY
You must keep all property and belongings with you in the studio at all times. Please note that The Tanning Shop cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for any loss or damage to clients’ property whilst on the premises.
CHANGES TO PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCES
Clients are required to inform the Tanning Shop immediately of any change in circumstances that affect their eligibility to use UV or Spray Tanning equipment. This would include any changes to their medical history for example pregnancy, a change in medication or diagnosis of a new medical condition.
CHANGES TO CLIENTS ACCOUNTS
Please note that any changes to clients’ accounts can be made via the online My Account section. If you need any assistance with this please speak to a member of our team in store.
We politely ask all clients to arrive at the salon at least 5 minutes prior to their appointment time. Due to the popularity of equipment, we are unable to hold your appointment if you do not arrive on time, priority will be granted to the next client in the queue/walk-in session. We will however endeavour to accommodate you in the next available slot or on alternative equipment.
Please note our free tan promotion is available in selected stores only and is subject to change throughout the year. This promotion is available for new customers only unless specified. (New customers are defined as a customer who has not been registered with The Tanning Shop before). Your free tan must be used within 14 days of registration, if this is not used it will expire on your account. Free tan is only available on UV sunbeds. Free tan duration is based on an assessment of your skin type by our in-store tanning consultant but the maximum minutes allowed will be 9 minutes. The company has the right to refuse a free tan if the customer is already registered with The Tanning Shop and has registered a second account to claim a free tan

In-store and online. This offer is exclusively for spray tans, and cannot be used against UV sunbed use in-store. Spray Tans are available in participating stores only. This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer and is only available on full-price spray tanning sessions, off-peak spray tan sessions are not included. Can only be purchased in-store, not to be used in conjunction with any other offer, 25% discount is valid for 14 days from registration, lotion discount on bottles only. Offer excludes sachets. OFF-PEAK SPRAY TANNING
Off-peak spray tans can be purchased at any time online or in-store however, they can only be booked to use in-store on a Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. Cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. The Tanning Shop reserve the right to withdraw offers at any time.
50% OFF 60 MINUTE PACKAGES
Cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. Available in selected stores only for a limited time only. UV services are available to over 18s only. The Tanning Shop reserve the right to withdraw offers at any time.
ALL OFFER TERMS AND CONDITIONS
UV services are available to over-18’s only. Package and Sun Angel promotions are available in participating stores only. Memberships and Walk-In prices are not included in offers unless stated otherwise. All offers cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. The Tanning Shop reserve the right to withdraw offers at any point.

Unless stated otherwise, the duration of leaflets or offline promotions/discounts is 12 months.
REFER A FRIEND
This offer is available to all existing customers who refer a friend to the tanning shop. The ‘friend’ must be a new registration with us and must not have used our services previously. The £5.00 credit will be applied to your account after the ‘friend’ has tanned for the first time. The £5 credit is only available to use against in store purchases.
We offer discounted memberships for the following; Blue Light Discount, NHS Discount, Student Discount, Pensioner and Military Discount. Discounted memberships cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion. Excludes pay-as-you-go, monthly memberships (Unlimited Monthly Package), bottles and sachets of lotion. The Tanning Shop reserve the right to withdraw offers at any time. Discounted memberships can only be purchased in-store and are only given in the below circumstances;
- Blue light discount – 20% discount on packages will be given when a valid Blue Light card is shown
- NHS discount – 20% discount on packages will be given when a valid NHS ID card is shown
- Student discount – 20% discount on packages will be given when the following methods of student ID are presented; University or College ID card, UNIDays card, NUS or Totum card, Student Beans card
- Pensioner discount – 20% discount on packages is available to those over the age of 66 when a valid passport, driving license or bus pass is shown
- Military discount – 20% discount on packages will be given when a valid military ID is shown
We offer corporate discounts of up to 20% for both national and local businesses. In order to join our corporate discount program, a business representative would need to email a request to email@example.com and include the following information; business name, number of employees/ customers and full business address. Corporate discounts are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and the level of discount may vary. To check if your employer is part of our corporate program, please contact your employer directly.
To make a complaint to the Tanning Shop, correspondence can be submitted in writing to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include any supporting evidence which you feel may support your complaint.
