How Vitamin d can help you

Blue Monday beat the winter blues with a tanning session at The Tanning Shop UK tropical beach

Today is known as ‘Blue Monday’, one of the most gloomy days of the year.

A mixture of the back-to-work blues, post-Christmas sadness and money worries from after the Christmas splurges have usually kicked in by now! Combined with cold weather and dark nights it can often feel like there is not a lot to look forward to in January.

Everyone is different, but if you are experiencing low moods, or feeling a little stressed, here are some tips you can follow to try and lift your mood.

  • Keep Active; this is beneficial for both mental and physical health. Exercise can improve your mood and general well-being.
  • Sleep; You should make sure to prioritise your sleep. A lack of sleep can affect how you feel mentally & physically. You should make sure to get into a routine to ensure you get enough sleep and to wind down in the evening to help you
  • Share your concerns; if you are concerned for your mental health speak to someone, whether that be a GP, a close friend or family for support.

Did you know Vitamin D can boost your mood?

Vitamin D helps regulate the amount of calcium and phosphate in the body. These nutrients are essential to maintain healthy, bones, teeth, and muscles!

Sunlight is the most effective way for the body to manufacture Vitamin D. Yet in the UK and Ireland, our bodies can only manufacture Vitamin D from exposure to the sun during the months of May to October. Outside of these months, the sun is simply not strong enough.

If you don’t have the opportunity to go out in the sun or prefer a more private and controlled environment, indoor tanning facilities represent a viable alternative to natural sunshine for stimulating your production of Vitamin D.

Give your body a boost and book your next session today.
